We run a music tutoring business and process personal data so that we can provide our services and information about our business – in doing so, we act as a “controller” with responsibility for collecting, storing and using personal data in accordance with the law.

Please note that if you withdraw your consent to further processing that does not affect any processing done prior to the withdrawal of that consent, or which is done according to another legal basis.
There may be circumstances where we will still need to process your data for legal or official reasons. Where this is the case, we will tell you and we will restrict the data to only what is necessary for those specific reasons.

- What data do we collect?
We collect the personal data of:
- those who are interested in our services (their names, email address and phone number(s));
- those who contract for our services (their name, email address, phone number(s)); and
- the children who attend our tutoring sessions (their name and date of birth).
We may process information about whether or not a child is disabled in order for reasonable adjustments to be made for them in our tutoring sessions.
Purpose of processing and legal basis
We collect personal data for the purpose of promoting and/or providing our services and the administration of our business.
In some cases, we may be required to use your data to comply with laws that apply to us.
We must have a legal basis to process personal data. The legal bases we rely upon to promote and provide our services and administer our business are:
- Your consent (where you have signed up for marketing communications from us)
- Where we have a legitimate interest (see below)
- To comply with a legal obligation that we have (for example the filing of tax returns)
- To fulfil a contractual obligation that we have with you (as per our terms of conditions)

- Supplying our services to you/your child(ren);

- Promoting our services;

Third party Data Processors (including Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Google Analytics and Yahoo) whose content appears on our website may use third party Cookies, as detailed below in section 11. Please refer to section 11 for more information on controlling Cookies. Please note that we do not control the activities of such third parties, nor the data they collect and use and advise you to check the privacy policies of any such third parties.
We do not keep your personal data for any longer than is necessary. Data will therefore be retained for the following periods (or its retention will be determined on the following bases):
For the personal data of those who have contracted with us: the length of our contract plus six years;
For the personal data of those who have contacted us but not contracted with us: six months from the date of first contact; and
For the personal data of those who have signed up to our marketing emails: for the period from them signing up until they unsubscribe.
- How and where do we store your data?
Your data will only be stored within the UK or the European Economic Area (“the EEA”) (The EEA consists of all EU member states, plus Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein) however we may use processors outside of these areas (see section 8 below).
- Sharing your data
Your information may be shared with others for the purposes of administering our business. This includes our professional advisors and providers of marketing services and/or technology.
we will not sell or rent your information to third parties. we will not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
In certain circumstances, we may be legally required to share certain data held by us, which may include your personal data, for example, where we are involved in legal proceedings or where we are complying with legal obligations, a court order, or a governmental authority.
We may sometimes use third party data processors that are located outside of the UK and/or EEA. Where we transfer any personal data outside the UK/EEA, we will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your data is treated as safely and securely as it would be within the UK
What happens if our business changes hands?
We may, from time to time, expand or reduce our business and this may involve the sale and/or the transfer of control of all or part of our business. Any personal data that you have provided will, where it is relevant to any part of our business that is being transferred, be transferred along with that part and the new owner or newly controlling party will, under the terms of this Privacy Policy, be permitted to use that data only for the same purposes for which it was originally collected by us.
In the event that any of your data is to be transferred in such a manner, you will not be contacted in advance and informed of the changes.

You have the right to ask for a copy of any of your or your child(ren)s personal data held by us. No fee is payable and we will provide any and all information in response to your request free of charge.
